To use water to identify the authenticity of Hetian jade, you must first weigh the Hetian jade, then calculate the water-holding power of the Hetian jade, and then calculate the density of the Hetian jade after obtaining all the data. To test Hetian jade weighing less than 98 grams, multiply the water-holding power by 23.128, remove the weight and subtract 2.19. For Hetian jade weighing more than 100 grams, multiply the water-holding power by 23.128, divide by 100 and subtract 2.19.

Method of identifying Hetian jade with water

To test Hetian jade with water, you need to prepare electronic scales, containers, cotton threads and other equipment, then put the Hetian jade on the electronic scale to weigh it, and then fill the cup with water so that the water level covers 2/3 of the Hetian jade. Then use cotton threads to hang up the Hetian jade. During this process, do not let the Hetian jade get stained with water or other debris.

Next, place the cup of water on the electronic scale and reset it to zero, calculate the water lifting force, and then slowly place the suspended Hetian jade into the cup of water. Leave it there for 15 seconds. Do not let the Hetian jade touch the wall of the cup so as to get the accurate number displayed on the electronic scale.

After getting all the data, start the calculation. Note that the density of Hetian jade is 2.95kg/m3-3.17kg/m3. When testing Hetian jade below 98 grams, multiply the water-lifting force by 23.128, remove the weight and subtract 2.19. When testing Hetian jade above 100 grams, multiply the water-lifting force by 23.128, divide by 100 and subtract 2.19.
